Have been looking at one for awhile now. Anyone have an opinion on them? In the dagger role I need a short and light marker so I can engage quickly and get a target profile fast. I love my modified Spyder ACS but a backup don't sound bad and those MR series are a bit more mil-sim as well.
Thoughts?
honestly, yer best bet is to get a nice used ion and then buy one of those milsim body kits for it. Unless you REALLY want the tube stack blowback style marker (which spyders are) due to how easy they are to clean. And to answer yer direct question I would pick the mr3 over the mr2 anyday because it has eyes and I have plenty of experience on how eyes improve the consistancy of not breaking balls. and I have a spyder with a acs bolt in it and i am not a big fan of it.
I suggested the ion route because they are much quieter, cheaper, softer on paint, have MUCH less kick, and are highly customizable. If you ever want to borrow mine for a test drive then let me know and I'll hook u up.

i have an MR2 ....thing is like carrying around a rock all day its so heavy even with a remote hooked up. i have been considering gettin an ion or something like that something lighter for sure
thats true, I forgot about that, the ion is very light.

Hey Phil I was considering an ION lately, they are HPA only correct? What do you think is a good price for one?

ions are great. use hpa, co2 could screw them up
$200 is retail price for 1 but u might be able 2 get cheaper on ebay
also since their arnt air fills at oak flats u will need a big air tank (unless u also play at another field with fills) and fill it on the way. I got a pure energy carbon fiber 4500/88 tank for $180 on Action village.
I would have to say that the only thing that is annoying or wrong with Ions and SP8s is that they cant use co2 and it takes a while to take them apart and clean the bolt but after 3 or 4 times taking it apart it gets faster
you can use co2 (even the manual says), but to be on the safe side make sure that it is an anti-siphoned tank so liquid doesn't get in the solenoid. If your current co2 tank doesn't have the siphon then you can buy a tank cheap that has one. Even with the anti-siphoned tank I wouldn't suggest keeping a sustained rate of fire over 10bps for more than like 100 rounds. So with co2 as long as u dont use the ion as a machine gun then u'll b ok!

I did all of that (exept i just had a co2 tank vertical with a remote and never let it go horizontal) and my board got fried, but thats just what happened to me. I wouldn't risk CO2, but hey its ur gun. In the long run air fills are cheaper and air might save you from spending $100 on a new board or other parts of the gun unnecesarily. Even if you do shoot slowley some liquid Co2 MIGHT get in your gun and mess it up
Thats just my opinion :D

Well I guess I have a bit to look into then. I am really not interested in switching over to HPA right now so an Ion is out. Good info all thanks.

Phil and I both shoot DM4's and they are awesome markers. Mr. Thunderclese you would be very happy with a proto or dm. You can find really good deals on used DM4's and PM5's now.
like bouncy said we shoot DM4's, but with great power comes great responsibility! :)

I have had no trouble with my Palmers blazer so far. I am really interested in a first Electro now.

Here is a link to a picture of phil's custom annoed DM4. You can get an idea of what they look like from it. http://paintballmilitia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=429
don't even think about co2 throught dm4 though, thats like putting diesel in a ferrari.

hey phil do you have a new board in your ion??
nope, don't really need one, I can change everything I need to with the stock board and I'm not trying to shoot over 20bps. Though if I would I'd get the t-board for $50 from ScenarioDreams and solder on the stock solenoid.

Keith,
What about a mini? Single bolt, very tight gun. Runs about $300, but it might become your primary. Very small gun, super light, no external lines. They look really nice, but I haven;t shot one yet....

I would hold off on a mini for now. They are so new that they are still very buggy. Maybe later on this year they will have most of the bugs worked out. With a mini you will probably have to run HPA also. If you want to upgraded to a nice gun you are going to have to run HPA. HPA is the way to go.
